SUMMARY:Holiday Concert
DESCRIPTION:This is exciting news for classical music fans in our community\,” says Jamie Hitel\, Director of Music\, Christ Church Greenwich. “We are thrilled about this new partnership since it finds its roots in the shared purpose of immersing young performers in rich repertoire from across the centuries. \nThe program for GLORiA: Music of the Season will include movements from Vivaldi’s effervescent Gloria\, as well as a stirring setting of the same text by Haydn for boy treble solo\, choir\, and orchestra. The English Baroque receives a nod in Purcell’s setting of Rejoice in the Lord alway\, before the evening is brought to a rousing conclusion with movements from Handel’s Messiah\, including the Hallelujah chorus. \n“Youth orchestras rarely get the chance to collaborate with choirs\, so this is a great opportunity for all the young musicians involved. This collaboration will show the community just how much talent there is in our own backyard. We invite the public to join us for a wonderful evening of baroque and classical masterpieces\,“ says Gregory Robbins\, Executive Director of the Young Artists Philharmonic. “We are extremely excited about this partnership\, as it represents a musical symbiosis. Our mission of musical excellence in instrumental performance for young people accords with the world-class standards of Christ Church Music and its choirs.” \nTickets can be purchased online and at the door\, with patron tickets receiving priority seating.

SUMMARY:September 10 Auditions
DESCRIPTION:Membership in the Young Artists Philharmonic provides the serious young music student with a challenging and rewarding orchestral experience. It is important to remember that our auditions should not be thought of as a daunting or stressful occasion. We like to think of it as an evaluation rather than an audition\, and look forward to meeting all interested students in a welcoming setting. \nApplicants should prepare: \n\nOne scale of the applicant’s choice\, in as many octaves as possible\nOne solo piece of the applicant’s choice\n\nApplicants should also expect to do some sight-reading during the audition. Any questions regarding the auditions should be directed to Executive Director Greg Robbins at greg@youngartistsphil.org. Scroll down and Click “Sign Up” in order to submit your information. A YAP representative will contact you shortly with further information. \nSign Up\n
